During the ritual of becoming a sharpclaw, softpaws must enter the cave underneath the moorland. An underground river flows through it, and many tunnels lead away from this main cave. An ancient cat named Rock lives in the cave, and marks on a stick those cats who choose a correct tunnel and make it out to become a sharpclaw, and those who choose a wrong tunnel and die in the darkness.
