A chocolate-coloured she-cat wandered alone through the moorland, her body held low as the strong wind battered. Dove Feather had come here to hunt rabbits, but though she was usually a good hunter she hadn't caught anything. Afterm a few hours she'd given up on the lower parts of the moorland, and decided to try the higher part. She trudged slowly uphill now, frowning as her belly rumbled angrily. Spurred on by her own hunger, she braced her shoulders anmd forced herslelf to pick up speed.
She stopped suddenly as she came over the crest of the hill, amazed by a beautiful landscape that stretched before her. She sat down, all thoughts of hunger gone from her mind. She could see her entire home from up here, every tree, every rock, and, of course, the lake, glimmering in the afternoon sun. She sighed softly and wrapped her tail around herself, for once completely at peace.

Long, lean legs raced across the moorlands, just barely nipping at the heels of a rabbit. "I got it. I got it." he said, pouncing onto the poor connie, grappling with it. Why did rabbits have to have such powerful legs? About to give the final bite, the white tom was kicked square in the chest with those legs, falling back, his prey allowed to live for another day.
"Mouse dung! I let it get away." Snow Run picked himself back up, giving himself a few quick licks on the chest then sighed. He'd try again; he would catch a rabbit! Snow Run sighed again, the softpaw coming upon the crest of the hill where his fellow clan member sat. "Hello Dove Feather," he said, coming to sit next to her, wrapping his tail around black paws, hazle eyes enjoying the view of the landscape.

Dove froze as she sensed a cat coming to sit by her. She continued to stare out over the forest, but her attention had turned completely to figuring out who this other cat was. From his voice and his scent, she eventually realised that it was Snow Run. "Hi." She answered stiffly, glancing at him, she was an extremely shy cat, and even the young softpaw made her anxious. She shifted uncomfortably from side to side; "Uh, how's things?" She asked at last. She heard how awkward she sounded in her own voice, and silently cursed her mother; it was her ridiculous inclination to overprotect her kits that had made Dove like this.

"Okay. I tried to catch a rabbit...it didn't go that well." He said, licking his chest again which started to hurt from that kick. Darn rabbit, Snow Run was lucky it was too small to do any real damage besides knock him back. "How about you? Catch anything yet?" he asked, before hearing her grumbling stomach answer his question. Guess not.
Snow Run narrowed his eyes as another rabbit dare run by, this one a lot bigger than the last one. 'Darn rabbits. I like fish better.' he thought bitterly, wincing for a moment. Okay, maybe the last one did more damage than he thought.

Dove began to relax as the tom spoke, he seemed nice enough. "Rabbits are hard to catch." She agreed, thinking of all the time she'd spent trying to get one earlier that day. She followed Snow Run's eyes and saw the big rabbit, now nibbling at the grass a little way away. She considered attacking it, then saw the expression on the softpaw's face. Dove stayed quiet for a moment. She could see that Snow Run was hurt, but she was so bad at social contact that she wasn't quite sure what she should do about it. Eventually she turned to peer at him and asked "Um, are you hurt?"

"I'm fine. I just got kicked is all. It stings." He replied, licking a paw and dragged it over his ear then licked his chest. "S'nothing too bad," he added, still watching the rabbit. He slowly got into the hunters crouch before giving a sharp intake of air. He wasn't going to bother to try and catch it. He'd probably hurt himself more. "Nohting to worry about." he went back to licking his chest, listening to the rabbit hop away as it caught sight of the two cats.
